changing and subject to interpretation by the Home

Work Permits
The permits, issued by a division of the Home Office can authorise UK based companies to retain
the skills of foreign national staff provided that they
can show either that the person coming is due to fulfil
a major position within the company such as a board
position, or because they are able to offer skills which
are recognised as being in short supply within the current
labour market.
Marriage/Fiancé/Unmarried
Partners/Civil Partnership
An entry clearance can be obtained for foreign nationals
wishing to come and live with their British or settled
partners in the United Kingdom. The categories within
the rules do not discriminate between long-term relationships
where the partners are unmarried. Under new rules
announced recently applications can be made on behalf of
foreign nationals who have entered or will be entering a
Civil Partnership with a same sex partner.
Sole Representatives
These applications are designed to enable persons who
have transferred from a company based overseas to set
up a branch office within the UK. They are designed
for highly qualified staff members of a company wishing
to expand into the UK market.
Visitors
A visa can be obtained for six months for persons wishing
to visit the UK for a holiday.
Students
A student visa can be obtained if you have been
accepted for a course at an institution registered with
the Government Department of Education and skills. The
length of the course and amount of time a person must
study for per week are regulated by the Immigration
rules and there are further regulations as regards a
students demonstrating adequate resources to complete
the course and intent to actually undertake a course.
Business
Persons who have a substantial sum of money and wish
to invest it in a UK based enterprise, either by setting
up a new business venture or by buying into and expanding
an existing business operation here. The current minimum
investment is £200,000.
Naturalisation
Persons who have lived in the UK for a number of years
may apply to become British through the process of naturalisation.
Once naturalisation has been obtained the individual
would be automatically eligible for a British passport.
Family Members
The Immigration rules make provision under certain
circumstances for children, elderly parents and other
dependant relatives to join persons settled in the UK.
Appeals
Persons who have been refused entry clearance, further
leave or a variation of their current leave will in many
circumstances have a right to appeal against that
decision. We specialise in the preparation and
presentation of appeals before the Asylum and
Immigration Appeals Tribunal.
Deportation
It is often the case that following the conviction of
a foreign national for a crime in the United Kingdom
that the Secretary of State wil seek to deport that
person. We specialise in representing persons subject to
deportation.
