Jawaid Luqmani
Jawaid is one of the founding partners of Luqmani Thompson & Partners.

Since qualifying in 1988 Jawaid has undertaken work in the areas of immigration, education and civil actions against the police and immigration authorities. He has lectured in these areas for the Immigration Law Practitioners Association (ILPA), the Legal Action Group (LAG), UKCOSA and CAB. He has also made numerous television and radio appearances in respect of topical immigration matters as well as co authoring 'Recent Developments in Immigration' for the Legal Action Group and 'Defending Suspects at Police Stations'.

Jawaid has been on the Executive Committee of ILPA since 1992, and was appointed as an Immigration Assessor by the Law Society from 1999-2003, and was appointed to the advisory panel of the Office of the Immigration Service Commissioner from November 2001-August 2005 and is a member of the Law Society.

Sally Thompson
Sally is one of the founding partners of Luqmani Thompson & Partners and the current managing partner.

Sally has specialised in immigration since qualifying as a solicitor in 1991 and also has experience of other areas of public law including education issues and some regulatory work.

Her work within immigration has covered a broad range of client types ranging from corporate work on the one hand to children fleeing from state persecution on the other. Her work within the latter category has been acknowledged within the profession and she is particularly regarded for her work on behalf of vulnerable clients.

Having successfully passed with commendation an MBA in legal practice, this experience has served her well in enabling her to introduce systems and procedures within her own firm which assist clients by ensuring that clients are provided with value for money services by adopting best practice at every level. All clients are valued by the firm, the reputation we enjoy is largely down to client satisfaction, the area Sally is most heavily involved in.

Richard Bartram
Richard is a Partner at the firm, having qualified in March 2001. Richard has a long history of working within Immigration and other Human Rights related areas of Law and particularly in Advocacy before the Immigration Appellate Authorities. He has lectured for Legal network TV and ILPA. Prior to joining Luqmani Thompson and partners he was involved in successfully setting up a charity BID which in its third year of operation won a Liberty Human Rights award. Richard has a particular interest in the politics and cultures of South East Asia and the Middle East.
