Public Law sets out the Legal
principles governing the exercise of powers by Public Authorities.
Public Authorities, include the Home Office, NHS Trust, education authorities,
the Prison Service, the Police, the Crown Prosecution
Service, Local Authority Social Services Departments
authorities, and the Department
for Work and Pensions. Public authorities must
exercise their powers fairly and rationally. Public
authorities cannot exceed nor abuse the powers granted
to them. Luqmani Thompson & Partners bring together many
years experience of challenging the decisions of public
authorities. We undertake litigation in a number of
forums; from domestic tribunals and the High Court by
way of Judicial Review of the decision complained of to
the European Court of Human Rights.
We have helped people find their way
through the labyrinth of rules and regulations to
participate in decision making that affects them, to
correct faulty decisions and to recover compensation
when public authorities let them down. The Human Rights
Act brings a new dimension and new tools to enable us to
challenge decision making which is wrong in principle
and in law and provides real remedies to real problems.
